Summer Fun

Praz-sur-Arly in summer offers an excellent climate complimented by fresh mountainous air. Unequalled scenery, congenial gala events such as festivals, sports and many varied activities including canoeing, mountain-biking, river rafting, tennis, golf, horse riding, fishing, climbing, hot air ballooning, and with over 160km of walking paths make the destination a superb outdoor experience.

Why not live life to the full in the midst of waterfalls and torrents and do some fishing or just laze around in an area where nature is preserved on the edge of the Plan Dessert Lake.

For a more laid back approach why not visit one or two of the many local villages nearby such as Megève , Flumet or Notre Dame de Bellecombe. Even the names conjure up tradition and a sense of romantic French history.

Megève is only a short distance from the village and is an enchanting place set in a lovely sunny setting, which has retained its heritage and old rustic charm to become one of the most fashionable resorts in France.

Megève is one of the best resorts in the Alps for non-skiers: It has a beautifully preserved medieval centre - now pedestrianised - with narrow cobbled streets, tastefully restored buildings, a pretty church, horse-drawn sleighs, a weekly market, an open-ice rink and plenty of marked paths for walkers.  There are lots of smart clothing, jewellery, food, antique and gift shops. The choice is endless, so much so that if you cannot ski you could do worse than wander round town window-shopping. In short, Megève is a resort to taste the mythic French 'art de vivre'.

Within easy reach is the also the beautiful Lake Annecy and its medieval town of the same name and contrasting eastern shore also known as the sunlit shore. Discreet countryside charm, natural beauty and calm all add to the lakes originality.

A lake cruise is the ideal way to take to sample all the treats the lake has in sore for you, the local cuisine in the many restaurants dotted on the shoreline, the mountains and of course the natural beauty.
